Imagine being on the road at the tender age of 13 with legendary artists such as The Swanee Quintet as their main keyboardist. That was the beginning of Steven's big break as a professional musician. On the morning of June 11, 1995, his life changed forever — a phone call from Elder Percy Griffin, with his mother's permission, sent him to New York to perform with The Swanee Quintet for one weekend. That weekend earned him a permanent position as their main keyboardist.

During his career with The Swanee Quintet he's shared the stage with the late Lou Rawls, The Godfather of Soul James Brown, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Canton Spirituals, and Lee Williams & The Spiritual Q.C's — to name a few.

The self-taught musician caught the music bug at birth. His mom was a singer-songwriter; his dad was a self-taught musician who could play every instrument he touched — harmonica, drums, but the lead guitar was his main. "You just can't help it," Steven says. "You hear music every day all day. Eventually you're either going to end up singing or learning how to play an instrument." At three he taught himself drums, then bass, then piano.

While working with The Swanee Quintet at Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Steven became intrigued by the entire process. "Just watching Mr. Joe Neil & Steve Bracey work and help bring everything together blew my mind. I want to be able to help breathe life into people's music and help them paint their visuals."
